We’ve been going a little crazy with the snow and ice keeping us stuck inside. Naptime has meant scrolling time for Mom and Dad in our house — which has led to discovering several amazing DIY activity ideas! Here are 3 of our favorites we’ve seen this week.

1. Paper Plate Tennis from @bymelissakate

What you need: balloons, paper towel rolls, paper plates, and tape

This activity is great for getting out a ton of energy without putting in a ton of setup effort. All you need to do is tape together a couple of empty paper towel rolls to some paper plates to create your rackets, blow up a balloon, and start playing!

2. Color Match Movement Game from @erikatratt

What you need: red, blue, yellow, and green construction paper, painters tape, and access to YouTube

Another easy setup game to help burn some energy is the “Color Match Movement Game.” Tape your construction paper to the floor to create one big square, pull up the video for the game on YouTube, and let your kids jump from color to color.

3. Iceskating Toys from @__justanothermom

What you need: your favorite action figures or small plastic toys, a cupcake baking pan, a baking sheet, and water

This activity requires some more setup, but it’s very on-theme for a snow day! Grab your favorite toys and put them individually into a cupcake pan. Fill up the pan with some water and put the pan in the freezer to create your ice skaters. At the same time, fill a baking sheet with some water and freeze it to create your ice rink. You can also add blue food coloring, sparkles, or other decorations to your ice rink to make it more fun.

These are just a few activities we saw on social media this week. We are so grateful to all the amazing content creators out there for sharing their ideas with our community!

Sincerely,

Your Dallas Mom Friend
